Headquartered in Ahmedabad with studios across India in Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh, our multidisciplinary team combines architectural design, structural engineering, interiors, and project management into a single, synchronized practice.

Fresh from finishing his architecture studies in 1948, a young L.J. Purani started his first job as an assistant architect in Mumbai. However, he always felt a strong pull to do something of his own back home in Gujarat. In 1951, he returned to Ahmedabad and started his very own practice. This small office would grow, evolve, and eventually become the firm we know today as L.J. Purani & Associates

Built in 1963, Navdeep building was one of the earliest major commercial building on west side of Ahmedabad. Strategically positioned right between the famous Ashram Road and the then-developing C.G. Road, it stood as one of the most famous buildings in Ahmedabad. Decades later, it remains fully functional, having earned its legendary reputation by standing strong through the test of time.

This landmark structure stands as a classic masterpiece of brutalism and post-modern Indian architecture, defined by its bold, structural concrete expression and highly functional layout. Decades after its completion, the building remains deeply contemporary in both form and utility, continuing to serve as the functional headquarters of the ADC Bank.

Nilesh Purani & Pragna Purani joined the firm in 1986 with the new office in White House. After earning his Masters of Structural degree from US, Mr. Nilesh Purani did graduation in Bachelors of Architecture. While Mrs Pragna Purani joined the firm after finishing her Bachelors of Architecture from prestigious M.S. University.

By the time 1987 arrived, the landscape of Gujarat had completely changed, and everyone finally understood the vital role of a professional architect. That year, his decades of hard work was officially recognized when he was honoured as a "Pioneer of the Architectural Profession" by Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects

Up mid 1990s, Nilesh Purani had established himself as a Market leader in Industrial design owing to his expertise in architecture & structural engineering. Notable projects include all the torrent switchyards in Ahmedabad, MH Mill, Vadilal Icream factories, ABC Bearing and Torrent Cable. This projects turned out to be high performance spaces for respective industries.

Kids City is a brainchild of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This project was completed and inaugurated by him in the year 2008. This state of the art project is the first Kids Theme Park in India. Kids’ City is a miniature world designed for kids between the ages of 5 to 14. It is their own little mini-city where they can get the best of education as well as entertainment at the same time.

The idea of new institution “Swarnim Gujarat Sports University” was conceived by honorable Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi. The 108 acre University is located near Vadodara and it is the first operational Sports University of India. The university is home to around 5000 athletes who are backbone of India’s sports mission

The state of the art auditorium has 1600 seating capacity, it is located in Anand, Gujarat. It is one of the largest auditorium of Gujarat. This modern auditorium is equipped with most sophisticated acoustical panels with latest sound systems. It is used for Annual General meeting for Amul. The auditorium consists office of Public Relations, Gallery showing history of Amul over past 75 years and mural showing the whole ecosystem of Amul.

Returning to India, he became a partner at L.J. Purani & Associates. Driven to combine strength with design, he also earned an architecture degree in 1996. This rare skill set allowed him to design complex engineering structures alongside beautiful hospitals, schools, and community spaces. In 2001, he founded DJ Softech Pvt. Ltd., taking Indian engineering talent to the global stage. He is one of the most celebrated Structural Engineer and architect of the city of Ahmedabad.
